Q: Must I be connected to the Internet to work on an EGUMPP Module?
A: No. Once you have registered your EGUMPP courseware key and created a data file to store
your progress and grades, you do not need to be connected to the Internet. Other times that you
must be connected to the Internet are when you are uploading your EGUMPP data file to the EGUMPP
website and when you are downloading your EGUMPP data file from the EGUMPP website.

Q: What is an EGUMPP courseware key?
A: An EGUMPP courseware key is a nineteen-character code that appears on the back of an EGUMPP
registration card. A courseware key unlocks an EGUMPP module and allows you to create a data
file so that you can complete all the lessons of the module. A courseware key is always
included in a module package or given to a user by his or her instructor.

Q: How does the EGUMPP registration process work?
A: Each EGUMPP module includes a courseware key. In order to unlock an EGUMPP module, the
courseware key must be registered. Prior to unlocking your first courseware key, you must
create an EGUMPP user account. To create an EGUMPP user account, you must enter certain
information about yourself, including a user name and a password. Your user name and password
are entered each time you log into an EGUMPP module. Once the EGUMPP user account is created,
the courseware key must be registered and an EGUMPP data file created. You only need to create
an EGUMPP user account once, and you should use the same user name and password when registering
the courseware keys for all other modules. Remember, for each new courseware key registered,
you must always create a new EGUMPP data file for that module.

Q: Should I use the same user name and password each time I
register a new EGUMPP courseware key and begin a new module?
A: Yes. You should use the same user name and password each time you begin a new module and
register its courseware key.

Q: What is an EGUMPP data file?
A: An EGUMPP data file is a computer file that stores your progress and grades as you work
through an EGUMPP module. The only way to create an EGUMPP data file is to register a courseware
key. After registering your key, the EGUMPP software will create your data file. You will have
one data file for each module you attempt. You can store your data file in any folder or
location on your computer. Each time you log in to a module to work, you will be asked to locate
your data file; so you must remember where the data file is stored. When you work in a module,
your data file is updated with your grades and lesson progress. Your data file can be identified
by its file extension. A Module I data file will have a .gm1 file extension, a Module II data
file will have a .gm2 file extension, a Module III data file will have a .gm3 file extension,
and a Module IV data file will have a .gm4 file extension. To prevent the misfortune of having
to restart an EGUMPP module, it is very important that you backup and/or upload your EGUMPP data
file to the EGUMPP website after each time you work on an EGUMPP module.

Q: How will I recognize an EGUMPP data file on my computer?
A: The name of your EGUMPP data file for Module I is always your user name followed by a .gm1
file extension; for Module II, your user name followed by a .gm2 file extension; for Module III,
your user name followed by a .gm3 file extension; and for Module IV, your user name followed by
a .gm4 file extension. For example, if you user name is robin, your Module I data file would be
named robin.gm1.

Q: What happens if I loose, damage, or delete my EGUMPP data file?
A: If you loose, damage, or delete your EGUMPP data file and you have not made a backup copy or
uploaded a copy of your data file to the EGUMPP website, you must start over. However, if you
remembered to upload your data file to the EGUMPP website, you can go to the "Show me how to
find and download a lost data file" link for instructions to download your data file.

Q: How do I work on an EGUMPP module both at school and at home?
A: In order to work on an EGUMPP module on different computers, you need to have your EGUMPP
data file available at school and at home.
If you have Internet access at school and at home, you can use the EGUMPP website to copy your
data file to or from each location. For example, once you complete working on EGUMPP at school,
you can upload your data file to the EGUMPP website; and then when you are at home, you can
download your data file from the EGUMPP website to your home computer.
If you do not have Internet access both at school and at home, you can use a USB flash drive to
transport your data file to or from each location. For example, once you complete working on
EGUMPP at school, you can copy your data file to your USB flash drive; and then when you are at
home, you can copy your data file from your USB flash drive to your home computer.
Remember, when using your data file on different computers, make certain you are always working
with your latest copy. For example, if you work at home, make certain that you upload the data
file to the EGUMPP website and then download this data file the next time you work at school.

can work on an EGUMPP module at different computer locations, what other reasons are there for
uploading my data file to the EGUMPP website?

file from being lost, and it provides a method for your instructor to view your progress.

Q: What is the purpose of a class code and an organization
code, and how do I obtain them?

Q: How can I backup my EGUMPP data file?
A: You should always backup your data file after working in a module. In addition to using the
EGUMPP website, there are many ways to backup your data file. Listed below are two possible
methods:
- Create an "EGUMPP Backup" folder on your computer, and copy your data file to this folder.
- Copy your data file to a different drive or storage area such as a network drive or a USB flash drive.
