History of EGUMPP
EGUMPP is a computerized learning system that evolved through years of classroom testing at Consolidated School of Business (CSB). Consolidated School of Business is a post-secondary proprietary school with campuses in York and Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

The first component that led to this learning system was a two-sided flow chart of grammar concepts and terms entitled the Word/Group of Words Identifier. This copyrighted flow chart and a copyrighted coding system for identifying the functions of words and clauses in sentences were used by the CSB students to identify the words in various types of sentences.

In 1990 a reference manual and two workbooks were published. The manual, the workbooks, and the two-sided flow chart became a learning system entitled Business English Essentials: Points to Remember and Rules to Follow. This learning system was used by CSB students until the computerized version of EGUMPP was created.

In 1999 the first computerized version of EGUMPP was installed in the computer labs at CSB. Since then, EGUMPP has been continually expanded, revised, and debugged. More than two thousand students and eight instructors have participated in the ongoing class testing and numerous revisions of EGUMPP. School districts in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and Alabama are currently piloting EGUMPP.

Bob Safran, who founded Consolidated School of Business in 1982, is the creator of EGUMPP. Mr. Safran is a former public school teacher, corporate salesman and trainer, and college textbook editor. Since the start of CSB, Mr. Safran has remained actively involved with the development and expansion of the curriculum of the school, which has always attempted to offer a pragmatic approach to learning. In his thirty-five years of experience in the corporate world and as a self-employed businessman, Mr. Safran has observed how important it is for everyone—especially people in the business world—to have proficient English grammar skills. As an instructor, he has always believed that teaching English grammar is not difficult and that most students enjoy learning it. The documented success that students at CSB have experienced with EGUMPP has proven this belief to be true.

EGUMPP has been extensively class-tested.
