For Module IV - WRITING MECHANICS the learning objectives are to become proficient in identifying run-on sentences and sentence
fragments and to become proficient in identifying sentences with misplaced modifiers, unparallel structure, word mistakes,
ineffective and inappropriate words, unnecessary words, wordy elements, and unclear elements.
Module IV is comprised of eight lessons and a mastery test.

MAIN MENU
The Main Menu for Module IV is comprised of eight lessons that must be completed in sequence.
|

|
|
|
LESSON MENU
Each lesson menu contains the same five sections: LESSON INTRODUCTION, POINTS TO REMEMBER,
LESSON REINFORCER, PRACTICE TO MASTERY, and TERMS REVIEW.

|
|
|
INTRODUCTION AND POINTS TO REMEMBER
Lesson content is presented in the first two sections. The INTRODUCTION section provides an overview of the subject matter and
introduces the new terms of the lesson, and the POINTS TO REMEMBER section presents detailed content with examples.

|
|
|
LESSON REINFORCER
After studying the introductory content and the Points to Remember, the Lesson Reinforcer is the first exercise to be
completed. The Lesson Reinforcer provides repetitious drill in reinforcing specific concepts of a lesson. To progress to the next exercise, a user must provide a consecutive number of correct responses or continue to provide responses until a maximum number of responses are made.

PRACTICE TO MASTERY (PTM)
The Practice to Mastery (PTM) exercise follows the Lesson Reinforcer. This exercise is a graded exercise and represents
80 percent of the Lesson Grade. The PTM tests your understanding of the current lesson concepts and the concepts of
all previous lessons.

TERMS REVIEW
The Terms Review is the second graded exercise in Module IV. The Terms Review exercise tests your
understanding of the terms of the current lesson and the terms for all pervious lessons. The Terms
Review represents 20 percent of the Lesson Grade.

MODULE IV MASTERY TEST - PART A
Part A tests your ability to recognize sentences that contain the various types of writing errors
presented in Module IV. |

|
|
MODULE IV MASTERY TEST - PART B
Part B tests your understanding of all lesson terms and definitions presented in Module IV.
|
|
|
|
|
GRADE REPORT
The Grade Report is accessible from the Main Menu and from each Lesson Menu. It displays each lesson grade, the averaged lesson grade, the mastery test grade, and the final grade.
